Bellingham Cleaners & Tailors Ltd. is a family owned and operated dry cleaning business renowned for its outstanding quality and service since 1940. We operate one of the most modern and efficient production facilities in Canada in a 16,000 square foot facility on Bates Road in Montréal.
The founder of Bellingham Cleaners, David Peletz, picked up and delivered dry cleaning on his bicycle for his father, Harry Peletz, who operated British Tailors & Valet originally on Park Avenue and then on Bernard Street in Outremont. In 1940 David started his own company, Mt. Royal Boulevard Tailors & Cleaners on Bellingham Street (currently Vincent-d’Indy Avenue) in Montréal. The name was eventually changed to Bellingham Cleaners & Tailors Ltd. David’s younger brother, Abe (Beryl), joined the company in 1945. As the business expanded more space in the building was taken over and the customer service reception was relocated to Maplewood Avenue (currently Édouard-Montpetit Boulevard). Abe’s brother-in-law Nat Kurtzman joined the Bellingham team in 1958 and managed a second plant located on Dorval Avenue. The main plant was relocated twice since 1940 under the supervision of David’s son Marty, the current president who joined Bellingham in 1974. Marty’s son Jarred joined the organization in 2003. To this day, Bellingham Cleaners continues to operate a full service retail operation and a growing home and office delivery service albeit not by bicycle.

Bellingham Cleaners has always been and still is at the forefront of the dry cleaning industry in Montréal. The first dry cleaning machine in the province of Québec made to use the revolutionary non flammable perchloroethylene solvent machine was installed at Bellingham in the late 1940’s.
Bellingham Cleaners is currently the only dry cleaner on the island of Montréal that utilizes environmentally friendly barcode technology on clothing. Barcode technology provides improved internal control, tracking and accuracy to process your order. This also means no more having to remove paper tags from your clothing!
Our Mega plant on Bates Road is open seven days per week. We offer same day service and an on premise alteration department from Monday through Saturday.
Bellingham Cleaners has private customer parking and the only drive-thru service in the province of Quebec. A night deposit box is available for after hour drop offs. We can even send you a text message or email to advise you when your order is ready for pickup.
